Michael John Cesaroni, Jr.
October 05, 1942 - October 16, 2011
Thunderbolt- Michael John Cesaroni, Jr passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at home in his beloved Thunderbolt under the care of Hospice Savannah surrounded by his devoted wife of 37 years and loving family. He was born in Savannah and resided in Thunderbolt most of his life.
He was a graduate of Benedictine Military Academy, class of 1962 and attended the University of Southern Mississippi at Hattiesburg. He was a retired shrimper and owner of M.J. Cesaroni Seafood in Thunderbolt.
He was a Communicate of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church and former member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish in Thunderbolt. He was an active member of the Benedictine Alumni Class of 1962. He served as a town Councilmen and Mayor of Thunderbolt. A former member of the Thunderbolt Volunteer Fire Department, Michael was also a proud member of the St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee and the Savannah Quarterback Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. & Mrs. Michael J. "Cap'n Mike and Miss Susie" Cesaroni, Sr. Michael was survived by his wife, Arlene Andrews Cesaroni and sons, Christopher Michael Cesaroni I of Thunderbolt and Todd Andrew Poppell of Orlando, Florida, grandson Christopher Michael Cesaroni II; sister and brother-in-law, Joan Cesaroni and Roger Council of Las Vegas, Nevada; his aunt, Annie Mae White Peterson, and uncle Robert E. White of Brownsville Texas, nieces Brenda and Erika Williams all of Savannah and numerous family and friends.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 19, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 pm at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Island's Chapel with Rosary Service at 6pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, October 20, 2011 at 1:00 pm from St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church on Wilmington Island. Internment will follow at Bonaventure Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Tommy J. Brennan, Tommy Brunson, William F. Heitmann, George P. Howard, John H. McKenna, Robert Peterson, Henry Rappe`, and W.A. Smith.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Benedictine Class of 1962 as well as the members of Thunderbolt Town Council members who served with Michael.
